Explain The World/Junky Don't Care

1.
Explain the world The empire of your love The quicksilver in your hair Explain the world How the chaos in our hearts Gave birth to the forming stars The past is slow It’s full of holes And strangers always sleep alone They sleep alone Under a green tornado sky You said you’d love me like the sun Under a green tornado sky You said you’d love me like the sun Explain the world The quickness in bright blue eyes They pull the frozen tides Explain the world Trace the history in our scars To the center of your tender heart We will stay We will bear the weight And you will never be alone Never be alone Under a green tornado sky You said you’d love me like the sun Under a green tornado sky You said you’d love me like the sun

Junky Don’t Care (Lyrics by Art Bergmann and Gord Nicholl) Look at that singer
He's been doing this for years
 You little baby
 You're so young
 You don't show any fear
 Look at that singer
 Now he's grasping for air
 You little baby
 You're so young
 You're not scared
You don't care My baby
She rode in that Lincoln
I hope she makes it okay
My baby
 She rode in that Lincoln
 I hope she's alive today
It gets so cold at night
When there's a hint of snow in the air
 Remember Junky don't care

Look at the singer
He's got an oxygen tent
 You little baby
 Morning came I just went
Look at that singer
Is he your doctor or something?
 You little junky
 What's the attraction? My baby
She rode in that Lincoln
I hope she makes it okay
My baby
 She rode in that Lincoln
 I hope she's alive today
It gets so cold at night
When there's a hint of snow in the air
Remember Junky don't care Not as much as I don't care

about

On December 2nd, 2022 Sunday Morning releases their song "Explain The World" and their re-imagining of the Art Bergmann classic "Junky Don't Care". The songs sit in juxtaposing genres and act as bridge to the new Sunday Morning material debuting in 2023.

We recorded "Explain The World" at Little Red Sounds Studio with Sunday Morning's Felix Fung producing and Max Sample on bass and keyboards. Dave Genn (54-40) and Dave Dykhuizen (Double D) came in to play guitars on the track. Frequent Sunday Morning collaborators Shawn Mrazek (Flash Bastard) added his unmistakable drumming talents and Jovana Golubovic (Nightblossom) sang back-up vocals. The song was mixed by producing wizard Howard Redekopp (Mother Mother, The New Pornographers).

Our version of the classic Art Bergmann song "Junkie Don't Care" is a loving tribute to a man who has never stopped being an artist and whose influence spans decades. Violinist Emily Bach (Big John Bates) added both beautiful discord and harmony to the song. She brought the essence of desperation and melancholic sadness conveyed in the lyrics perfectly.

about

Sunday Morning Vancouver, British Columbia

Sunday Morning is refreshingly experimental, complex and authentic. Their sound seamlessly weaves the best elements of darkwave, dream pop and rock and roll. The name derives from the crippling duality of the simultaneous misery and ecstasy of Sunday morning. There is nothing fake or borrowed about Sunday Morning. They are the real deal. ... more
